I Was Ghosted !

Over the last year, someone I thought was a very close friend stopped communicating with me. I met this person in a running group, and we'd been friends for over 11 years. Last September, we argued about a football game (of all things). At the time, I thought it was no big deal. We mutually apologized. He seemed fine. I was fine, but I noticed he stopped responding to my text and phone calls over the next week.

Like all friendships, we had disagreements before, nothing remotely close to a toxic level. So I figured this was no different. Well, one week of no response turned into two, two turned into three, and by the time I got to four, the picture was clear that our friendship was toast. I was officially what the young folk call "Ghosted."

I chalked the situation up to sometimes people grow apart. It's nobody's fault. It just happens. The best you can do is keep moving.

What's strange about it is that this individual runs in many running groups that I also run in. I have not seen him with any of the groups, but I will be cordial if and when I do. It will still prove to be a bit awkward.

Have you ever been under similar circumstances with friends in your running circle? How did you deal with it?
